While Maharashtrian cuisine brings a sense of pride to every Marathi maanus, anywhere across the world, this pride is taken to another pedestal when music rooted in Maharashtrian traditions accompanies this cuisine. Recently, two of the finest exponents of Marathi natya sangeet, Rahul Deshpande and Mahesh Kale – both of Kattyar Kaaljaat Ghusli fame – performed at Peshwa, Dubai. Called Uttung, the musical evening was their first performnace in Dubai. Their soulful singing left everyone in the audience spellbound. Every face and heart carried a sense of pride of having witnessed a glorious Maharashtrian delicacy – natya sangeet.
